Mother (Sarah's Story)

The second book in the trilogy “Sarah’s Story” by Deborah Hainley Bonnar, “Mother” follows the relationship of the psychically gifted human, Sarah with the 2,055 year old vampire, Silvanus.

In “Mother”, Sarah, now an adult but still uncertain about what she means to Silvanus, marries and finds herself living in a magical community on the New York coast. In Hannum, Sarah is able to explore and develop her natural abilities with 12 similarly-gifted women while settling into the role of wife and mother.

As her confidence in herself grows, Sarah begins reaching her magical potential. As her marriage slowly deteriorates, she finally gains some insight into the mind of the creature she has loved since he saved her sanity, if not her life, at the age of 13.

Coerced by her husband into leaving the magical enclave Sarah and their children call home, the family moves to London where Sarah is stalked by an evil entity bent on a twisted form of revenge. The terrifying physical and psychological assault on her near the end of “Mother” will leave readers unable to pause until its conclusion and impatient to begin reading the story’s finale, “Wise Woman”.

For Mother’s Day 2008 I made all the women in my life a "mother revolution bookmark". These were inspired by a Tori Amos song called "Mother Revolution". The lyrics of the song are printed on the background. I created the base by gluing three layers of cardstock together. I created a template of the shape I wanted and cut out the bookmarks with decorative-edged scissors. I used ‘motherhood’ clip art from ArtChix Studio, printed out and glued on the title, and tied fancy ribbons to the top.
